Dear pregnant mama,

I see you waddling around trying to walk that baby out. Your tired your uncomfortable and anxious to meet this human that’s made a home of your body. The minute you share these impatient thoughts the world comes back with all their opinions “sleep while you can” “enjoy them while there safe in there” and hey some of them may be true but the truth is they aren’t helping. Those negative thoughts only add to your anxiety as you think, "How can having my sweet baby out and in my arms be worse than this!?" Those feelings your feeling and pain you have get squashed and made to feel insignificant by the onslaught of comments flooded your way.

Although the road ahead isn’t easy I wanted to share with you all the amazing things ahead that you have the fortune of looking forward to when your sweet bean makes it’s arrival.

Labour may be painful and long and never what you expected it to be but trust me when your holding your tiny perfect newborn baby all the hard work sweat and tears shed will be worth it as you look at that beautiful baby that you freakin grew inside of you!!

You may sleep now in only two hour increments but when you lay down and look to the side of your bed and see that little one swaddled and nestled so quietly next to you those two hour wake ups won’t seem so daunting not to mention you’ll finally get to sleep on your stomach something you’ve dreamt about doing the minute you couldn’t during those long nine months!

A hot meal or cup of coffee might not happen as often as it used to but all the heartburn and sickness will be long gone so those foods you’ve loved but avoided for baby may now be enjoyed to their full potential!

The diapers they pile and it may feel like you’re in a repeating pattern of sleeping, nursing and changing diapers but remember that glass of wine you have craved for so very long!? You get to indulge in it now while you sit and stare at the perfect little human that made your family whole

Your relationship will shift, no longer will it be about just the two of you. This tiny new roommate will come in and call the shots and it can be hard but trust me when I say this you will never love your partner more than when you get to see them love on the baby you’ve both dreamt so long for.

These are just a few of the MANY amazing things set to come your way.

So walk that baby out, do everything you can to get that baby to make its arrival.

And come to me share your pain, your anxious thoughts and your fears! Because I’m with you mama!

Despite all those comments and opinions telling you not to wish these fleeting moments away I think every parent will say that having that baby out is so so so much better than having it inside you.

Bye For Now

From One Wild Mother to Another
